HURRY UP AND WAIT.

HURRY UP AND WAIT.

The target for this bash is Doctors and Specialists who seem to think that their times is the only time that has meaning or worth.

This morning I had an appointment with an eye specialist for 11:00a.m. I arrived early, checked in and sat in the waiting room not really knowing why I am here because there is nothing wrong with my eyes as far as I can tell. As I sat waiting I got into a conversation with a rather pleasant woman who told me that she had been waiting since 9:00a.m too see the same specialist I was going to see. I was, to put it mildly, flabbergasted. I asked her why she was still there to which she responded that doctors were very busy people and waiting was part of the process to see them. I agree waiting is part of the game but 2 hours isn’t a wait it’s a visit. I calculate that if she had been waiting 2 hours and there were 4 others ahead of me I’d be lucky to be seen by 2:00 p.m. It was now getting close to 11:30 a.m. and I wasn’t going to wait any longer. I went to the receptionist and told her I was leaving as I had better things to do with my time than camp out in a waiting room. She said that I had to make another appointment then and she offered me the doctors Card. No thanks was my reply you won’t see me here ever again and out the door I went.
Where is it written that doctors are up there beside god and that their time and effort is far more valuable than mine or any other working stiff? I’m on the down slope of seventy and I really don’t have much time left to me so I’d rather spend it doing what I want to do rather than sitting in a waiting room. I figure when I’m dead I’ll have all eternity to wait. It is always hurry up and wait and wait. Hell I did enough of that in the Army I sure as Hell ain’t doing it in Civilian life. Just because someone is a doctor, dentist, layer, or specialist does not make them any more important than a mechanic, plumber, or carpenter. Both are skilled at their chosen profession so just because one is white collar and the other blue this makes the whiteys more important. Like what closer to god. Well I decide a long time ago that a so called professional is worthy of 30 minutes maximum of my time waiting. After that I’m “Gone with the Wind”

I just got an appt. with a specialist at 9am. The busses here don’t start till about 8 and it takes 3 busses an hour and a half to get there.
So much for looking after our seniors.

You’re not alone, David. With a long wait of a couple hours or more, it would behoove the receptionist to call and advise patient appt. delays. If you want an eye specialist call me…and see what I can arrange. Most I’ve ever waited in the last few years is 10 to 30 minutes max. If any consolation…I’d have walked out also & never to return again to this office!
